The continuing misadventures of a misguided congressman

Congratulations, Henry Brown: America's jerk

Hats off to Congressman Henry "Pyro" Brown who proved in a statewide televised debate tonight what many have known for years -- that he is a Grade A, 100 percent American jerk.

In the SCETV debate against Democratic challenger Linda Ketner, Brown flashed moments of sarcasm, meanness and arrogance. In between, he babbled on and on like a broken record about the economy, taxes and how great his ideas (obviously stolen from people with a lot more brainpower) were on energy.

If you were to believe Brown, you'd believe he actually was someone important in Congress instead of being one of the chamber's least effective followers.

Throughout the hour-long debate, Brown interrupted, coughed and made noise while Ketner tried to address serious issues. He showed how ungentlemanly he really is.

While these obvious political ploys seemed to throw Ketner off a little, her poised, inciteful responses to tough questions were refreshing, intelligent and reassuring.

No one really scored a knockout punch in this debate but one thing is clear: Henry Brown showed himself for who he really is -- a grumpy, old know-it-all who has little record of accomplishment other than being a Bush lemming for the last eight years.

Henry Brown: the Barney Rubble of the United States House of Representatives.

It's time for a change.
