Brown votes against freedom, women
In another signal of his hard-core, right-wing philosophy, U.S. Rep. Henry Brown, R-S.C., voted for a measure that takes freedom of choice away from women.
Brown voted Thursday for a ban on the rarely performed, so-called "partial-birth" abortions.
"It's very significant," said Kate Michelman, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America told the Associated Press today. "We've never before had a medical ban on safe medical procedures in this country."
One House member said Thursday's vote was a direct assault on a woman's freedom to choose what she wanted to do with her body. Pro-choice groups are expected to challenge the ban if it becomes law.
